In Orange County, where many cities and HOAs limit RV parking, storage is a real decision. Where and how you store the RV affects its roof, tires, batteries and finish.
Storage options
- At home — convenient, if local rules allow it
- Open outdoor lots — the most affordable, with full sun exposure
- Covered storage — a roof overhead cuts sun and rain
- Indoor storage — the most protection, usually the highest cost
Protect the RV in storage
- Use a breathable RV cover if it’s stored outside.
- Cover the tires to block UV.
- Keep batteries charged or disconnected.
- Crack a vent with a vent cover to reduce moisture.
- Close blinds to protect the interior from sun.
- Check on it monthly — look for leaks, pests and flat tires.
Before and after storage
A service before storage — and a check before the first trip back — catches anything that changed. And before the rain season, a roof inspection matters most. See free fall roof inspection.
