RV roof leaks are sneaky — by the time water drips, it has often been getting in for a while. Catch these warning signs early and you’ll save the structure underneath.
Inside the RV
- Water stains or discoloration on the ceiling or walls
- Soft spots in the ceiling, walls or floor near walls
- Peeling wallpaper or bubbling wall panels
- Musty smells after rain
- Rust on screws or fixtures near the ceiling
On the roof
- Cracked, peeling or separated sealant
- Tears, punctures or bubbles in the membrane
- Lifted or cracked vents and skylights
- Gaps at the roof edges and end caps
On the outside walls
Waves or bubbles in fiberglass sidewalls — delamination — often start with a roof leak above.
What to do
Have it inspected before the next rain. A full roof inspection is free with any fall service. See free RV roof inspection.

How fast does water damage spread?
It depends on the leak, but it keeps spreading until the source is fixed.
