Doors and windows are among the most common casualties of an RV collision — and among the most important to fix correctly, because a frame that’s out of square won’t seal.
Why frames matter
An impact can twist the wall around a door or window just enough that it no longer closes evenly. Even a small gap lets in water, dust and road noise, and stresses the hinges and latches.
Signs a frame was damaged
- The door sticks, won’t latch or needs slamming
- Visible gaps around the frame
- A window that won’t close fully or rattles
- Cracked sealant around the frame
- Water inside after rain
How it's repaired
- Inspect the surrounding wall and framing for damage.
- Repair or reinforce the structure.
- Realign or replace the frame.
- Replace glass, seals and hardware as needed.
- Seal and water-test.
Insurance
Door and window damage from a collision is usually part of the collision claim. We document it for your adjuster. See RV insurance claims.
